Lije was born in Oregon and raised mostly in Michigan and a tad bit in Kentucky. He attended undergraduate school at Michigan State University and finished his time there in 1999 with a degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in Biology and Chemistry. Immediately after college he moved to California to be a teacher, but that lasted only two months. Broke and a bit lost, he decided to keep going to school. Why not, right?
A couple years later he earned an MBA from San Diego State University with an emphasis in Marketing which has been followed by a very thorough seven years in the entertainment industry here in Los Angeles.
Lije moved from San Diego to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue his acting and modeling career inspired from booking some “easy” gigs down in San Diego. Over the past seven years, he has acted in all forms of entertainment including film, TV, theatre, and many commercials. He has appeared in campaigns which include Dodge and ASICS, starred in the Independent features’ Stabbin’ Kabin and For Whom He Tolls, and landed roles on TV’s GREEK and a MOW starring the “late” Dennis Hopper called The Last Ride.
In 2007 he (director/producer) partnered with his father, M Sarki (writer), in creating the recently distributed feature film Alphonso Bow. It is available via Vanguard Cinema through several outlets on VOD and DVD and also in over 1000 independent movie stores across the country. Lije and his dad also collaborated on the short film, Get She Water, which has just recently gotten back onto the burner to make into the feature film for which it was originally written.
Most recently, Lije directed the short film, Closing Doors. It is currently playing in the festival circuit with recent showings in Los Angeles at “Dances With Films” and in Saugatuck, MI at “Waterfront Film Festival.” It will be screened this month at the “New York City International Film Festival”. It has been a joy to show off and has had a great response thus far, and we are only halfway through the year. Other fests include “Detroit Independent” in MI and “Gasparilla” in Tampa, FL.
He has slammed the Caiparinas in Rio de Janeiro and “ran” through the streets of Berlin and now continues his passion for the growth of his company and baby, Nut Bucket Films. He still tends to have some fun too. You can definitely find him slinging some BBQ and brews at his favorite spot in L.A., Baby Blues BBQ. It’s the only place in L.A. that is guaranteed to have the Lions game on for football Sundays! They also finally got a freaking Monday night game this year as well!
To keep track of Lije and his producing/directing and acting adventures, follow his BLOG. He writes about everything from life, sports (Detroit teams), current events, and of course his latest projects. Right now he is directing a music video and writing a thriller/horror webisode with his partners in Texas. Check it out.
